Who We Are

On Sunday, June 18, 1967, the St. Pius X Church Federal Credit Union opened its doors for the first time. St. Pius would become only the second church in Rochester to have a Federal Credit Union. According to Father Murphy, SPXFCU’s founder, the Credit Union “would be open on Sundays after Masses and on Tuesday nights.” He believed that opening a “Money Co-op” was Christianity in practice – a belief that our Credit Union holds to this day.

Since our inception in 1967, SPXFCU has hit the ground running by welcoming in members from parishes all over the Rochester area and advancing our services as a Federal Credit Union. From establishing computerized services in 1981 to moving into our current location in 1999 to present day, we have based our service to the Rochester community on one core belief: family. We believe each and every member of our Credit Union is considered family – a belief that we embody from our Tellers to our President. In fact, we promote a familial atmosphere so much that many of the descendants of our founding members still work for the Credit Union to this day.

  SPXFCU moves into a new office at the south end of the school
• December 1989
  Parkminster Presbyterian Credit Union merges with St. Pius X Church Federal Credit Union
• May 1993
  Parishioners of St. Christopher’s are able to join the Credit Union
• May 1995
  Our office is expanded into the old bingo facility
• February 1999
  SPXFCU moves into a new office located at 2998 Chili Ave
